How it works
- Make profiles. Add each person, their allergens, and a sensitivity level for each: severe, moderate, or mild. Every allergen starts at severe.
- Read the statements. Before you lower a level below severe, you read and sign short statements about what the app can and cannot know, such as “may contain” labeling and products regulated by the USDA.
- Scan the barcode. We look up the product in our own copy of public product data. No scan is sent to anyone else.
- Photograph the label. Text recognition runs on your phone. For severe profiles this step can’t be skipped.
- Get a result per person. Fixed rules compare the label against each profile. You see the result, the reasons, and the exact words that matched.
The results
- Avoid
- An allergen is listed, or a rule for this sensitivity level says to avoid it.
- Scan the label
- We need a clear photo of the ingredient panel before we can say anything.
- Caution
- Something on the label or in the data calls for a closer look at this sensitivity level.
- Note
- A precautionary statement or similar mention, shown for your information at mild sensitivity.
- No listed allergens found
- The rules found nothing on the label for that person. It is not a guarantee.
Why no AI in the result
Results come from fixed rules and a published list of allergen terms. The same label always gets the same result, and every scan records the version of the rules that judged it.
